A Touch of Gold

Thursday, 28 February 2013

Today was so sunny, that I couldn't resist taking advantage of the golden pallete my wardrobe has seem to have taken on these last few months.
I've had a good week so far! Things are going swimmingly :) Including the show I saw tonight at The Greystones Pub in Sheffield- Feelix. If you haven't heard about them, you really should take a coffee break and a set of headphones and listen! A sort of soulful, modern play on the Corrs with a touch of Imogen Heap/ KT Tunstall thrown in- they make a lovely sound. The gig I went to (courtesy of the lovely Pippa!) was in aid of the The Alzheimer Society- a charity close to the band member's hearts, in order for them to record a charity single that will be sold in order to raise awareness of dementia. A scary fact for you, 800,000 people in the UK are thought to have it, and past the age of 65, 1 in 3 of us will get it (#alwayslearning). It truly is a great cause and I hope you all get involved. You can see their facebook here and their twitter here
Heres a couple of pictures I took tonight. My SLR died on me so I did the best I could with my shiny new iPad... and then mucked around far too long, editing them instead of doing Russian homework.. as is the way!

Girl in the Woods

Wednesday, 27 February 2013

I wanted to share my outfit with you today and a little life update too!

I dug this out of the depths of my wardrobe today and as I was feeling particularly sunny, decided to give it another whirl. Its a Topshop Petite gem from a few years ago but it summed up how I've been feeling today rather well! Paired with Oxford type brogues, it was perfect for a long but satisfying day at Uni!

I've had a very nice few days- as my nearest and dearest will know! (I havent shut up about it, so apologies to them.) But when your good karma comes in leaps and bounds, you have to thank it, appreciate it, and pass it on to someone else. Who knows what the next few weeks will entail :)

Wishing you all a great week ahead! From a very enchanted Ally x

Syd and Mallory

Sunday, 24 February 2013

Along my travels, I wondered into Syd and Mallory and wanted to share with you in their handmade awesomeness...

An independent handmade fashion boutique, Sheffield based Syd and Mallory launched in 2006 and now have their own site and ASOS Boutique online. I popped in to the Forum to see what they were all about and I was suitably impressed!! Will definitely be popping back in at some point to make a purchase (once my damn cheques go through...). Here are some of my favourite pieces from their boutique:

Let's Take a Trip...

So today, myself and the lovely Pippa took a trip into Sheffield city center, to discover some of the local vintage gems. Along our way, I found an interesting Sheffield based label, Alice Takes A Trip, stocked in Freshmans Vintage. Below are some of my favourites from their online store...

I'm a sucker for anything with an animal in a big print on it- so these just won my heart instantly. But there are some really different other designs on their website, check it out!
