Read the latest on the DMU graduates here!

In Leicester, I met three very promising and professional soon-to-be fashion Design graduates,
Meet Charlotte Matthews, Austin Louis Perry and Elizabeth Arthur

First up, we have Charlotte! Inspired by 80s and 90s tunes, she loves print design and her work reflects her outlandish approach to style- simply fantastic! Favourite designers include Versace, Moshino Cheap and Chic and Christian Louboutin. She gave us such an insight into what goes on behind the scenes of a real Fashion Design degree. What shocked me and Pippa the most was that all three students are expected to fund their own collections and with a minimum of 6 outfits in their final collections, you can imagine how much this can add up to! All in all, we learnt that a degree in Fashion Design is not glamorous with working days easily being 12 hours in the studio, but hopefully with these pictures you can really see how dedicated she is to her art!

These are some samples she brought to the meetings to show us:

And here's some finished pieces!

Second, we have Austin!
A real fashion forward student, he had to run off half way through out interview to rescue his coyote furs (at least I hope he meant furs!) out of the bath! Always on the ball it seems, Austin is inspired by many things including MIA and Azelia Banks. His work mainly comprises of latex and fur pieces but my favourites are his jackets- stunning pieces that I could only dream to wear!

Here's some examples of his work:

And last, but certainly not least, is Lizzie Arthur.
A real talent, Lizzie specializes in pleating and her collection is inspired! Having done both her foundation and degree at De Montford she offered us a real insight into the department and what it has to offer. We quizzed her about drawing her designs and although confessing that she found it difficult, she showed us some of her designs and we were blow away- how lovely are these??

Here is some of her finished work on the catwalk!

I can't thank these guys enough for the invaluable insight they gave me into what goes on behind the scenes of fashion. A huge hug and good luck to all three of them! Keep in touch!
